On April 15, 2016, the Minister of Veterans Affairs announced a new initiative to broaden engagement with stakeholders. Six ministerial advisory groups have been created as part of his commitment to improve transparency and seek consultation on issues of importance to Veterans and their families.

Each advisory group will focus on one of the following:

Each advisory group will have a chairperson appointed by the membership from among the members and a senior departmental official from Veterans Affairs Canada will co-chair. A representative of the Office of the Veterans Ombudsman will be invited to attend Advisory Group meetings as an observer.
