Ms. Brenda Butt
Scarborough, Ontario

Ms. Butt is a Life Member and current President of Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) Branch 258 Ladies Auxiliary. She been an Associate Member of RCL Branch 258 for 24 years. She is a dedicated participant in many annual remembrance events and has been instrumental as an organizer for the Veteran community. In 2011 and again in 2014, she helped coordinate a visit by a delegation of 50 individuals from the Westlake Brothers Souvenir Association, a group based in France that honours Canada’s war dead. She has travelled to participate in commemorative ceremonies in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. At home, Ms. Butt has helped with the Poppy Trust Fund, has attended repatriation ceremonies along the Highway of Heroes, and has helped promote the play “Jake’s Gift.” Ms. Butt also visits Veterans in homes and hospitals where she provides them with care packages. For her work with Veterans, Ms. Butt has received special Contribution Awards from both the RCL Branch 258 and the Ladies Auxiliary. In 2012, she received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
