Mr. Luc Fortier CD

At a young age, Mr. Luc Fortier joined a cadet group and quickly became one of the key actors of his unit. In 1986, he enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in the Royal 22e Régiment where he is still active after 29 years. He is stationed at Canadian Forces Base Bagotville.

Strongly involved in the Lac St-Jean Veterans’ community, Mr. Fortier has been Regional President of Veterans UN-NATO Canada since its founding in 2009. He is also Vice President of the the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 235 and a service officer of  district 3 in Chicoutimi, which includes Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and Côte Nord.

He founded l’Association Frères d’armes, which brings together members of The Royal Canadian Legion, Veterans UN-NATO Canada, l’Association du Royal 22e Régiment and the Saguenay chapter of the Association of Military Motorcyclists of Canada   in a single group to improve the return of veterans to civilian life after military service.

After 8 deployments, Mr. Fortier, who suffers himself from an operational stress injury, has focused his energy, since 2016, in establishing a transition house that will accommodate Veterans suffering from operational stress injuries so that they can received the appropriate care for their condition.

Despite his family and professional obligations, Mr. Fortier is always present to help improve the quality of life of local Veterans.
