Women and War

October is Women's History Month in Canada. Proclaimed in 1992 by the Government of Canada, Women's History Month provides an opportunity for Canadians to learn about the important contributions of women to our society - and to the quality of our lives in the 21st century. This feature is dedicated to the experiences and lives of women in times of war, military conflict and peace.

Remembrance

Remembrance
They have raised children, baked, built fighter planes, piloted helicopters, wore skirts, pants and combat boots, used rivet guns and real guns and cried over the loss of loved ones. Thousands of Canadian women’s lives have been shaped by their experiences of war, as has the role of women in Canadian society.
