Economic Club of Canada Breakfast Panel on Mental Health

On May 3, the Honourable Kent Hehr, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, participated in the Economic Club of Canada’s breakfast panel entitled “Mental Health and the Canadian Military: Supporting our Armed Forces and Veterans.”
Joining Minister Hehr on the panel was Louise Bradley, President and CEO of the Mental Health Commission; Andrew Garsch, Afghanistan Veteran; Chris Anderson, President of Medaca Health Group; and Trudi Walsh, Ph.D., C.Psych. Calian Contractor (Psychologist, Acting Program Manager OTSSC) CF H Svcs C(O) Department of National Defence / Government of Canada. The panel was moderated by Dr. Karen Cohen Ph.D., C. Pysch, Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Psychological Association.
Minister Hehr spoke to the Federal Government of Canada’s commitment to Veterans and their well-being.

Canada remembers the 73rd anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic

On Sunday May 1st, 2016, the Honourable Kent Hehr, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, participated in a commemorative wreath-laying ceremony on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic. The event, hosted by the Royal Canadian Navy and the Department of National Defence, took place on the grounds of Parliament Hill.
The Battle of the Atlantic was Canada’s single longest continuous military engagement of the Second World War, lasting from September 1939 to May 1945.

Canada remembers the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong

On Friday April 22, the Honourable Kent Hehr, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, addressed Canada’s Korean War Veterans in a wreath-laying ceremony and reception at the Canadian War Museum to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong.
Minister Hehr paid tribute to the Canadian soldiers who served in the battle, which took place from April 22-25, 1951, during the Korean War. The event was hosted by the Korea Veterans Association of Canada and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, in partnership with the Canadian War Museum and the Korean War Commemorative Committee (KWCC).
