Canada in Afghanistan

The Canadian flag was lowered for the last time by our military in Afghanistan on March 12, 2014. This mission involved more than 40,000 Canadian Armed Forces personnel—our country's largest deployment since the Second World War. Our brave men and women in uniform not only took part in dangerous combat operations in Afghanistan, they also undertook many humanitarian and nation-building initiatives to help the people of the war-torn country.
