Son of James Thomas Campbell and Ida May Balls, of Ingersoll, Ontario. Husband of Pansy Ruth Wilford, of Ingersoll, Ontario. Father of Kenneth Wilford Campbell.

He served in the army with the 1st Battalion, Oxford Rifles, service number A-511209, in Woodstock, Ontario, from 22 November to 21 December 1940.

His brother, Robert Vernon Campbell, service number V-17831, served with the Canadian Navy during the Second World War; he survived the war.

Location:

CATANIA WAR CEMETERY lies on the coastal plain in the Contrada Bicocca about 7 kilometres south-west of Catania. From Catania Airport follow the Tangenziale (main road) towards the A19 (in the direction of Palermo). Before reaching the A19, the CATANIA WAR CEMETERY is signposted. The cemetery is permanently open and may be visited outside the working hours of the local gardening staff, but will be unmanned. The local gardening staff working hours are as follows:
From first Monday in April:
Monday to Thursday: 07.30 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 16.45
Friday: 07.30 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 15.30
From first Monday in October:
Monday to Thursday: 08.00 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 16.00
Friday: 08.00 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 15.00
