Location:

BECKLINGEN WAR CEMETERY is 13 km south east of Soltau on the west side of the road from Hamburg to Hannover. From Hannover travel north in the direction of Hamburg on the Autoroute No.7 for 80 km until the junction with Soltau Sud, this is in fact the junction of the A7 with the B3 Hannover to Hamburg road. On leaving the A7 at Soltau Sud follow the B3 in the direction of Celle and Bergen. The cemetery is on the right hand side of the road, 7 Km from the motorway junction.

  • Photo of Allan Jerry Vickers– Vickers, Allan Jerry - Flight Lieutenant. Born 19th August, 1918, at Toronto. Educated at Gledhill Public School, Riverdale Collegiate Institute and Eastern School of Commerce, Toronto. Entered the service of the Bank 2nd February, 1937. Served at Toronto city branches. Enlisted 31st October, 1941, from Roncesvalles & Wright (Toronto) in R.C.A.F. Pilot Officer in August, 1942; Flying Officer in May, 1943; Flight Lieutenant in November, 1944. Trained at Toronto, Gananoque and Belleville, Ont., and Ancienne Lorette, Que. Posted to St. Johns, Que., as Instructor. Overseas in July, 1943. Served as Navigator of Mosquito aircraft with 487 (New Zealand) Squadron in Eng?land and France. Completed more than 30 operational flights. Missing after air operations over Western Germany on 22nd February, 1945. Officially presumed dead 2nd October, 1945. From a memorial booklet prepared by the Canadian Bank of Commerce.
