Brother of Alec, Clarence, Robert, Ernest, Isaac, Leila, Bertha, Emma, Marjorie, Elizabeth, Corporal Douglas Leonard Newell, Royal Canadian Regiment, killed in action 3 May 1953, and Gunner Charles Taylor Newell, Royal Artillery, killed in action 17 March 1941.
