Brother of Lance Serjeant Beldon Treen, who died on April 7, 1917 while serving with the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles (Saskatchewan Regt.). Cousin of Private Stanley Treen, who died on February 22, 1916, while serving with the Canadian Infantry (Central Ontario Regiment).
