Location:

Albergen is a small village in the commune of Tubbergen, lying 5 kilometres south of the village of Tubbergen and 8 kilometres west of Almelo. The church stands in the centre of the village, with the churchyard 50 yards to the south. The British plot is on the western side of the churchyard, near the boundary hedge. It contains the graves of 7 airmen, four of whom came from the United Kingdom and the others from Canada.

  • Photo of Charles Peasland– While on a return flight from Berlin on December 29th, 1943, his already severely damaged aircraft, on reaching the Dutch-German frontier, was again intercepted and heavily attacked by German fighters.  He was killed when the aircraft caught fire and exploded mid-air.
