Son of Lloyd Remington and Mary Josephine Meech (1970 National Memorial (Silver) Cross Mother), of North Sydney, Nova Scotia.

His brother Lloyd Remington Meech had also served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and died on February 19, 1944.
