On May 23, 1944, the Halifax MZ 506 shot down by the German and crashed at a place called common Cossasièe Moncé en Belin. Eight crew members died. A monument was erected at this time of the crash at the initiative of Marie Fortier

Le Mans is a large town and the seat of the Prefecture of the Department of La Sarthe. LE MANS WEST CEMETERY is on the north-western side of the town and west of the River Sarthe.
