Son of Robert Henry and Frances Bird of Pearcely, Ontario. Joined 162 Battalion on 2 May 1916, transferred to 36th Battalion on 6 December 1916, transferred to 125th Battalion on 31 January 1917 and onto the 54th Battalion on 2 February 1918. Pte Bird is commemorated on a memorial in Magnetawan, Ontario having made the supreme sacrifice.
