Bouchoir is a village in the Department of the Somme on the straight main road from Amiens to Roye. The BOUCHOIR NEW BRITISH CEMETERY is on the north-east side of the road nearly 2 kilometres south-east of the village.

  • Photo of Peter Olson– Pétur Alexander Olson Was born 21 Aug 1883 at Gimli, New Iceland. His parents, who moved to there early (in the period of settlement) were Gottskalk Sigfússon Olson ( passed away long time ago) and Hólmfríður Jónatansdóttir, both with roots in Skagafjörður county. Pétur was a married man, his wife is Jónína (Jóninna) Hrólfsdóttir; they had three children. The widow lives with her children at Gimli. Pétur joined the 108 battalion 27 Mar 1916 and went with it that autumn, 12 September, to England. The following winter, 20 February, he was moved to the 16th Canadian battalion and went with it to France. He took part in various battles during the spring and summer of 1917, until he was wounded 8 November that fall. In January 1918 he was again on the battlefield where he was until in the beginning of August when he got 10 days leave and went to England. He was back in France 11th of that same month (August) and five days later he fell in the battle at Amiens - Arras. 16 August 1918.
