Location:

Douai is a large town about 24 kilometres north-east of Arras and the DOUAI COMMUNAL CEMETERY is on the south-east of the town. From the town centre follow the signs for Derain and Auberchicourt. Traverse the bridge over the main railway line and the civil cemetery is located 45 metres further on to the left. The DOUAI COMMUNAL CEMETERY is located at the very rear of the civil cemetery when viewing from the entrance.

  • Newspaper Clipping– This article mentions that 2nd Lt. Edward C. Ready had been with a Western (Canadian) unit before he transferred to a British regiment.  His Canadian military attestation  indicates that he initially enlisted with the 46th Battalion C.E.F. in Regina, Sask., on May 6, 1915.
  • Newspaper clipping– 2nd Lt. Edward Charles Ready originally enlisted in Regina, Saskatchewan, on May 6th, 1915 in the 46th Battalion C.E.F. under Service Number 427060.   He had previously served for five years with the Queen's Own Rifles of Toronto.
