Son of Benjiman F. and Sarah A. Burchell, of Bridgeport, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Served in France with 24th Bn. (Quebec Regt.).

The grave of George Burchell has been visited by The Memorial Mob since 2007 on finding it, the Canadian High Commission sent an Canadian Army Officer to pay respects before attending an event called Uniform Day in Iver Heath (raising funds for St Margarets Church) A Totem Pole created for the 1st Iver Heath Scouts and the Scouting Centenary of 2007 was placed near the scene of George's accident and a bugler played the Last Post to remember him. It was inspired by his work and that of the Canadian Forestry Corps who worked in Black Park. He lays close to the grave of another Canadian killed in WW1.
