Baptized Joseph-Édouard-Narcisse Drolet. Son of Marie-Henriette Légaré (deceased in 1883) and Augustin Drolet (remarried to Emma-Mathilde Légaré in 1885), of Québec (St-Jean-Baptiste), Québec. Married to Ida Guertin in 1910, of Helena, Montana. He stated being single when he enlisted.

He was stationed with his unit in East Sandling Camp, Kent, England, and he died of cardiac failure during a route march on the Monks Horton road. His death was pronounced at the Shorncliffe Military Hospital.
