Baptized Joseph-Joachim Gaudreau. Son of Joachim Gaudreau (deceased in 1900) and Philomène Lavallée, of Montmagny and Québec (St-Malo). He stated being born in 1894 when he enlisted and for an unknown reason, he would not use his second name “Joachim” but replaced it for “Arthur”.

After more than one month serving at the front with the 22nd Battalion, he was evacuated in England, on 13 December 1916, due to a synovitis to his wrist. He was also diagnosed with the tuberculosis. He was then repatriated and admitted to the Sanatorium du Lac-Édouard, in Mauricie, Québec, for treatments, but he died there eight months later.

Commemorated on Page 242 of the First World War Book of Remembrance. Request a copy of this page. Download high resolution copy of this page.
