Son of Lois Ailport (formerly Newton), of Topley, British Columbia, and the late Fred L. Newton. Enlisted in the American Legion, but was discharged at Halifax on account of defective eyesight. Re-enlisted under his stepfather's name. Served as AILPORT.

Location:

Fontaine-Notre Dame is a large village in the Department of the Nord approximately 3 kilometres south-west of Cambrai on the main road from Cambrai to Bapaume (N30). The CREST CEMETERY is signposted from the N30 in the village and is located on the right hand side of the road towards Raillencourt.
