Baptized Joseph-Ferdinand-Oscar Cadieux. According to an old tradition, he added Damase, the first name of his godfather, after his death. Son of Charles Cadieux (deceased in 1916) and Célina Brunet (deceased in 1906), of Montréal, Québec. Husband of Georgiana Lavoie (married in 1898) and father of one girl, of Montréal, Québec. He stated being born in 1878 when he enlisted. He was a stretcher-bearer and was killed by enemy artillery during the Battle of Courcelette. His name is inscribed « Ferdinand D. Cadieux » in the First World War Book of Remembrance.

Location:

Pozieres is a village some 6 kilometres north-east of Albert, and the POZIERES BRITISH CEMETERY, which is enclosed by the Pozieres Memorial, is a little south-west of the village on the north side of the main road, D929, from Albert to Pozieres.
