Location:

Thelus is a village 7 kilometres north of Arras and BOIS-CARRE BRITISH CEMETERY is about half a mile east of the village on the south side of the D49 road to Bailleul-sire-Berthoult.

  • Group Photo– Lietenant Duncan John McRae of Canada (left) and Lieutenant Percival William Murray of England (right). McRae was an observer for the RFC and took aerial photographs of the front line over France. Murray was the pilot of their BE2 plane. They were shot down by Baron von Richthofen on 1st February 1917 and were made prisoners by the German infantry. They both died of wounds on 2nd February 1917, making them the 19th victims of Baron von Richthofen. They are burried next to each other in Bois Carre cemetry near Thelus, France.
