Baptized William-Odilon Poirier. Son of Hermas Poirier and Joséphine St-Louis (deceased in 1900 in the United States). His father remarried to Marie-Louise Brosseau in 1901 and they later moved to Montréal, Québec. Odilon stated being born in 1898 when he enlisted. In France, he was originally transferred to the 22nd Battalion but he did not join it and was then transferred to the 14th Battalion.

Location:

Crouy is a village about 16 kilometres north-west of Amiens on the west side of the River Somme, on the Amiens-Abbeville main road. The CROUY BRITISH CEMETERY is a little south of the village on the west side of the road to Cavillon and there is a Commonwealth War Graves Commission signpost on the main road.
