  • Photo of Raymond George Girdlestone– Raymond G Girdlestone looking sharp in his uniform. He served both in South Africa in the 2nd Norfolk Regiment, and then the great war. He arrived in France on the 18th of August 1916. During the war he received a shrapnel wound, as well as being gassed in a German attack from which he received burns on his hands and neck, but was treated and recovered.  He later became Ill with trench fever and was sent to England and then Canada where he died of Tuberculosis Dec 29th 1920.
