Son of Mark and Patricia Potvin of Osgoode, Ontario. Cst. Mike Potvin was married to Allison who was eight months pregnant with their first child at the time of his death. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and working for the RCMP. In spite of being a very strong swimmer, he drowned when the RCMP boat he was in capsized on the Stewart River in Mayo, Yukon. He is buried in Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario.

Commemorated on Page 228 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Honour Roll Book.
