Cst. Seward was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia. He was a member of the Drug Section in Toronto. As a result of a drug investigation, threats had been made against his life. Cst. Seward was driving to the airport when he collided with another vehicle. He was married Joanna and they had a son. He is buried in Sydney Forks, NS.

Commemorated on Page 160 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Honour Roll Book.
