Cst. Sundell was born in Trois-Rivières, Quebec and was raised in Ontario. Most of his service was in the western Arctic. He was accidentally shot while on duty at Herschel Island, Yukon Territory. At the time of his death Cst. Sundell was engaged to be married.

Commemorated on Page 113 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Honour Roll Book.
