Cst. Wood’s family had a rich history. He was the third generation of the Wood family to serve in the Force. His grandfather, Zachary Taylor Wood, served in the NWMP and the RNWMP and rose to the rank of Assistant Commissioner. His father, Stuart Taylor Wood, was the serving Commissioner of the RCMP when Cst. Herschel Wood died. Prior to joining the Force, Cst. Wood served with the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve. While posted in Ontario, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts while serving as a member. Cst. Wood was posted at Cardston, Alberta when he died. Cst. Wood is buried at Depot.

Commemorated on Page 107 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Honour Roll Book.
