Cpl. Moriarty was born in Ireland and served with the Glasgow City Police for three years and later served with the London Metropolitan Police for 18 months. He signed with the RNWMP in 1914 and then joined the Alberta Provincial Police (APP) in 1918. He was re-engaged as a member when the APP was incorporated into the RCMP in 1932. He was Acting Cpl. in 1933 and was official Corporal in 1934. He was killed while serving a summons at Rosebud District, Alberta. There is a street at Depot named in Cpl. Moriarty’s honour.

Commemorated on Page 55 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Honour Roll Book.
