Son of Rev. John Matheson and Christy Ann Elizabeth Matheson,of Cornwall, Ontario. Enlisted March, 1915 in 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles. Gazetted to 11th Battalion East Surrey Regiment, September, 1915.

Brother of Private John Renwick Matheson, who died during service with the Canadian Infantry (Eastern Ontario Regiment).
