This tank, a Sherman M4A2, was one of numerous Shermans used by the Fort Garry Horse from the Second World War through to 1969. Dedicated to those who served with the regiment, and particularly those who were wounded or died during wartime service, this tank was dedicated as a memorial on the 75th anniversary of the Fort Garry Horse, on 17 October 1987.

THIS IS AN AMERICAN DESIGNED SHERMAN M4A2 MEDIUM TANK. VARIANTS OF THE SHERMAN WERE USED BY THE REGIMENT FROM THE SECOND WORLD WAR UNTIL THEY WERE WITHDRAWN FROM SERVICE IN 1969.
THIS TANK IS DEDICATED TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED WITH THE FORT GARRY HORSE AND ESPECIALLY TO THOSE THAT DIED OR WERE WOUNDED IN SERVICE. WE LIVE IN THE SHADOW OF THEIR SUFFERING AND SACRIFICE.
