This memorial is dedicated to George Townsend Raynor, a member of the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles, Canadian Expeditionary Force, killed in action near Ypres, Belgium, on 2 June 1916.

In 1961, the McLeod United and Stewarton United churches amalgamated to become McLeod-Stewarton United Church (MSUC). In 2008 the Bell Street United Church joined McLeod-Stewarton United becoming Centretown United Church.
