This memorial is dedicated to the citizens of the Village of Dixie who served their country. The Village of Dixie was located in the area of this memorial, along the lakeshore between the eastern border of the City of Dorval and the western border of the City of Lachine. The Village was amalgamated with the city of Lachine in 1913, but continues to be commemorated with the nearby Dixie Park, Dixie Street, and Dixie Island.
