One of these three plaques is dedicated to those from Sydney who participated in protecting shipping on the North Atlantic and erected by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada. Another plaque is dedicated to all those from New Waterford and surrounding area who served in war and peace time. It was erected in July 2000. The third plaque is dedicated to the members of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals who died while serving their country. It was erected by the Atlantic Signals Association in 1998.

ATLANTIC BULWARK
LE REMPART DE L'ATLANTIQUE

During the Second World War the Royal Canadian Navy and
the Royal Canadian Air Force protected shipping on vital
North Atlantic [The wording in the photo is not clear./Le texte n’est pas clair sur la photo.] which were the lifeline of the Allies.
Army [?] shared in the defence of the [?] which were
essential to that shipping. In the face of a determined
campaign by German submarines [?]
the Atlantic routes were kept open. In this struggle Sydney
played an important role. It was a major convoy [?]
port, protected by [?] batteries and included
an airfield, seaplane base and [?] dockyards.

Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la Marine et l'Aviation
royales du Canada protégèrent les navires marchands qui
