The We Will Remember Exhibit

The Canadian National Vimy Memorial was created to honour the memories of Canadians who served during the First World War, and particularly those who gave their lives. Today, more than 100 years later, the memorial stands as a symbol of Canada’s enduring commitment to remembrance.

Now, visitors can explore the We Will Remember exhibit at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial’s Visitor Education Centre for an in-depth look at Canada and Newfoundland’s experience of the First World War. Through the stories of everyday Canadians whose lives were forever changed and a unique collection of historical photos, videos and artefacts, the exhibit allows visitors to learn about Canada’s journey, the importance of events at Vimy Ridge, and the creation of the beautiful Vimy Memorial.

Exhibit themes include:

• the transition of young Canadians and Newfoundlanders 'from citizens to soldiers'
• key Canadian and Newfoundland milestones, including an in-depth look at the Battle of Vimy Ridge
• the personal impact of war on Canadians at home and abroad
• conception, construction and meaning of the Canadian National Vimy Memorial
• Canada's enduring commitment to honour the sacrifices and contributions of those who served
