Transcript
Well, at the time I was in Germany and then like I said it came out that the Gulf War portion Operation Friction came out and this is what was going and that was the start of the scene of the Gulf War and next thing you know it was like I got picked to go to the Gulf War and I was going wow. I was a cook at the time in Germany and then I was going down to Doha Qatar as a cook down there and feeding for, you know support, for the Air Force. So, from there it was like, it was like a shocking because, while my family was in Germany at the time and like I said, my two young kids and a wife and I am leaving the country to go to an actual war. I got told that, “Oh, we are going to a desert environment and we’re going into a war,” and like I said, this is like unheard of in the military at the time, like we had some conflicts that went on throughout the military but, you are going to an actual war. So from, you know, the intelligence that they were giving us and saying stuff and everything like that, so we are going to, you know, and all the training that we have to do, so we have to go from being, looking out for the chemical warfare of this country that we are going into to looking at from scud missiles are going over and flying into Baghdad and so on and so forth, you know, like it really puts you on the edge of the seat and saying well, I don’t know what’s going to happen when I go there, and you really didn’t. You only knew from what they were telling you, being in the military at that time.
