Sub-Constable Mahoney was formerly a farmer when he engaged with the NWMP. He drowned when crossing the Red Deer River on patrol from Battleford to Fort Walsh, Northwest Territories. Sub-Constable Mahoney had a wife, Emma, and two children, John and Maria.
