August 8, 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Amiens and the beginning of Canada’s Hundred Days. Veterans Affairs Canada sent a delegation led by the Minister to Amiens, France to mark the centennial and commemorate the sacrifices and achievements of Canadians during the Battle of Amiens. The ceremony took place at Le Quesnel Canadian Memorial.

100th anniversary of Battle of Amiens – Departure Event at La Citadelle de Québec

August 8, 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Amiens and the beginning of Canada’s Hundred Days. Veterans Affairs Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces hosted a Changing of the Guard ceremony to mark the centennial and commemorate the sacrifices and achievements of Canadians during the Battle of Amiens at La Citadelle de Québec. After this ceremony, the Ministerial Delegation travelled to France to mark the anniversary on behalf of Canada. A tour of La Citadelle de Québec and the Citadelle Museum preceded the event in Québec City and included members of the Canadian delegation.

August 8, 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Amiens and the beginning of Canada’s Hundred Days. A Canadian delegation, led by the Minister of Veterans Affairs, headed to France to mark the Battle of Amiens at two remembrance ceremonies—one at Le Quesnel Canadian War Memorial and the other at the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Amiens. Before attending these ceremonies, the delegation visited the Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial.

Sixty-five organizations that help support the homeless joined forces in Ottawa to discuss the critical ingredients necessary to prevent and end Veteran homelessness. The Roundtable on Homelessness saw local, regional and national organizations all sharing ideas on how they can work together to ensure that when a Veteran finds themselves homeless, they have the supports to ensure it is brief and non-recurring.
