The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Steven Dieter

Captain Dieter is currently serving with the Canadian Forces as a Public Affairs Officer. After having been deployed overseas as Task Force Jamaica Public Affairs Officer in support of Operation JAGUAR, Captain Dieter independently conducted research on Canadian military personnel buried at the military cemetery at Up Park Camp, Kingston, Jamaica. His efforts resulted in finding ten Canadians that have been buried there since the Second World War. Captain Dieter was also able to identify an eleventh Canadian buried in the cemetery who was a member of the Merchant Navy. After having obtained the personnel files of the ten military individuals he was able to create a detailed program that was used for the Task Force Remembrance Day ceremony. During the ceremony, which was performed at Up Park Camp cemetery, honourable respect was paid to the fallen by the Canadian High Commissioner to Jamaica and all members of Task Force Jamaica. General Walt Natynczyk, Chief of the Defence Staff, also visited Jamaica a few days later and made the point to visit the cemetery and listen to Captain Dieter's research.
