Every 24th of December the people of Groesbeek Netherlands and surrounding communities go to the Second World War Canadian War Cemetery in Groesbeek. The program starts with an introduction of local authorities followed by the by the candles ceremony. The local school children place lit candles on the graves of approximately 2,620 soldiers interred there. Relatives of any of the soldiers are also invited to place a candle on the grave of their loved one.

After the official ceremony has ended everyone is invited to have Hot Chocolate with Christmas bread (Stollen)
