Canada's pre-eminent naval hisotiral, Dr. Marc Milner, will repsent on the longest continuous naval and air campaign of the Second World War in which the Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force played a pivotal role.

Canada was an important contributor to the Allied victory in the Second World War. But nowhere was Canada's role more critical than in the Atlantic. The sea route to Europe was vital not just for Britain's survival. The manpower and sinews of war needed to liberate Europe had to be carried across the sea. And it was there, in the North Atlantic, that Canada's military and industrial power coalesced into a force powerful enough to help shape the outcome of the war.
