2005 Remembrance Day Poster - Teach

The Government of Canada has declared 2005 the Year of the Veteran. Throughout the year, Canadians will remember, honour, celebrate, and teach our youth about the contributions and sacrifices of our veterans.

The Teach poster is the fifth and final poster in a series of posters unveiled during 2005, the Year of the Veteran. This poster features three generations of airmen: Colonel Tom Lawson, member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, accompanied by his father, George Lawson, Veteran of the Second World War, and his son, Ben Lawson, currently enrolled as an Officer Cadet in the Royal Military College of Canada. The photo was taken with children at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, beside the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Veterans’ Week 2005 - Teach

During Veterans’ Week, November 5 to 11, Canada will pause to remember all Veterans, to reflect upon their contributions and sacrifices, and to pay tribute to those who died protecting the values and freedoms we enjoy today. To help demonstrate the Teach theme, this poster also features a strong Canadian Forces (CF) presence. Every day, CF members put their lives at risk, often leaving their families and homes behind, to courageously and selflessly serve in our nation’s military, defending Canada’s values and contributing to international peace and security. They set a strong example for Canadian youth and we recognize and remember their sacrifices.
