Librarians Know Best!

Many classrooms and libraries create thematic displays of remembrance related reading materials in the days leading up to Remembrance Day. If you want to add some new titles to your collection, you can look at "A Wish for Peace"

This is a list of remembrance related books that was created by Library and Archives Canada during the Year of the Veteran. Books are grouped by age, grade, category, and by language.

Ideas for linking Literacy and Remembrance:

  • Initiate a Remembrance Book Club or reading challenge for the month of November
  • Pair younger students with an older student to work as Remembrance Reading Buddies
  • Novel or book study: Divide the class into small groups. Each group reads a different book about Remembrance, and prepares a short presentation for classmates summarizing the book.
  • Remembrance book reports: Do book reports on different Remembrance books.
