Location:

Miraumont is a village about 14.5 kilometres north-north-east of Albert and the Cemetery is some 3 kilometres south of the village on the east side of the road to Courcelette (D107). The ADANAC MILITARY CEMETERY is signposted in the centre of Miraumont.

  • Newspaper Clipping– Pte. John Crook enlisted in Toronto's 83rd Battalion, C.E.F. on August 16th, 1915.  He was subsequently assigned to the  3rd Battalion, Central Ontario Regiment.  In grateful memory.
  • Newspaper Clipping– This article mentions Pte. John Crook, 172135, who died on October 8th, 1916.  Pte. John Crook was born in Birkenhead, northwest England, on September 28th, 1888.  He indicated on his Canadian military attestation that he worked as a carpenter and had prior military experience with the 1st Cheshire Regiment.  He enlisted in Toronto on August 16th, 1915 with the 83rd Battalion CEF.  His brother was Pte. Stephen Henry Crook, 285366,  who enlisted with the 220th York Rangers in Toronto on May 29th, 1916.  Pte. S. H. Crook was also born in Birkenhead, England, on December 24th, 1886 and worked as a painter. (Source:  Military Attestations, National Archives of Canada).
