Son of William and Mabel McLeod, of Ottawa, Ontario. Pilot Officer McLeod was the Bomb Aimer in the crew of the 432 (Leaside) Squadron. According to Flying Officer Gordon Lyle Stokx, (retired) their crew was not yet on Operational status with the Squadron on 16 Sept 1944. Pilot Officer McLeod volunteered to go on a raid to Kiel, Germany as a replacement on another crew. Their Halifax bomber collided with another aircraft over the target and crashed. This was his first combat mission.

Location:

Aabenra is in Jutland, on the main road from Germany into Denmark, about 24 kilometres north of the frontier. It is about 105 kilometres from the port of Esbjerg. AABENRAA CEMETERY is on the western side of the town. The 1939-45 Plot is on the left-hand side of the main path towards the rear of the cemetery.
