Memorial – Photo of the memorial dedicated to the two crews involved in a mid-air collision 01.29.1944 Courtesy Air War over Denmark www.flensted.eu.com Lancaster I HK537 of 463 (RAAF) Sqn took off at 00.35 from its home base at Waddington on a mission to Berlin. En route to Berlin HK537 collided with Lancaster III JA967 of 83 (RAF) Sqn over Augustenborg Fjord. The major part of HK537 crashed in the fields of Pommersgaard farm near Mjels. Air Gnr. F/Sgt Harold Suthers RCAF was found dead near Broballe among the wreckage of JA967 All onboard died and rest in Aabenraa cemetery, Jutland, Denmark.
