Grave Marker – Photo courtesy of Frans van Cappellen, Putten, The Netherlands Lancaster LM-465 took part in the following Key Raids: Berlin 24/25mar44; Nuremberg 30/31Mar44. Airborne 2315 12 Jun 44 from Mildenhall. Intercepted and shot down by a night-fighter, crashing 2 km SW of Meerlo in the Dutch Province of Limburg. Those killed were buried at Venlo, and subsequently re-interred in Jonkerbos War Cemetery. They were 3 members of the RCAF: P/O (P) C.S.Thompson, WO2 (BA) R. G. Lemky and WO2 (N) R. McMiillan and 3 members of the RAF: Sgt M.B.Pelham, Sgt T.E.Stubbs, and Sgt R.S.Mobbs. One RAF, F/S J.M.Trend, survived and was listed as an evader. (Source: //lostbombers.co.uk)
