Grave Marker – Photo courtesy of Frans van Cappellen, Putten, The Netherlands Lancaster NE118 was delivered to No.626 Sqdn 16May44 Lost on its first operation with a total of 4 recorded hours. Airborne 2237 22May44 from Wickenby on a mission over Dortmund. Crashed in Holland at Asten (Noord-Brabant), 10 km SE from the centre of Helmond. Those killed were buried at Venlo. They have been subsequently re-interred in the Jonkerbos War Cemetery. Canadian F/O Morritt as were RAF Sgts I.A.Pretswell and R.W.Richardson. Canadian F/S R. H. Punter evaded, as did RAF F/S E. Grisdale. Two RAF members, Sgt R.A.J.Sindall and Sgt R.J.Turtle, were taken PoW. (Source: //lostbombers.co.uk)
