He was born as Alfred Arthur Ouellette and signed his name “X”. Son of Paul Ouellette and Thérèse Boudreau, of Pointe-à-la-Croix, Bonaventure, Québec.

Brother of privates Johnny Willett and Leo Willett (born Ouellette); they both survived the Second World War. Fred stated being born on 28 February 1916 when he enlisted.

Fred served in Québec, in Newfoundland with Force W, in Hong Kong with Force C, and in Japan as prisoner of war.

Location:

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY is 9 kilometres west of the city on Yuenchi-Dori, Hodogaya Ward, which branches left off the old Tokkaido highway. The nearest railway station is Hodogaya, 5 kilometres to the north on the JNR line but the cemetery is easily reached by bus from Yokohama station.
