  • Photo of FRANK PERCY STAMP– Frank Stamp and his fiancee Margaret Waddell (my aunt) prior to his deployment in WW II. Photos taken in front of the Waddell Family home on 83rd street in Edmonton.
  • Photo of Frank Percy Stamp– Hurricane V7608 was flown by Sgt Stamp on August 15th 1941 when it crashed at high-speed at Wardens Law Golf Course, Houghton-le-Spring, County Durham,UK. (Please note some sources have the name wrong ie Wardenshaw...). He had been in the RCAF one week short of a year and was regarded as an above average pilot. Previously V7608 had been flown by 253 and 303 Squadrons, and is pictured in service with 71 (Eagle) Sqn at RAF Kirton-in-Lindsey, Lincolnshire, prior to being allocated to 55 Operational Training Unit at RAF Usworth, County Durham, the unit to which Frank had been posted on July 29th 1941, having gained his wings in Canada. The cause of the crash was never established due to impact damage. Art by Andy Hay; photo UK Imperial War Museum (both public domain).
